East Lothian Foodbank is introducing new ways for local people to access food support, giving greater choice, flexibility and dignity to those who use the service.
Pick Your Own Food Parcel
The Foodbank’s new Pick Your Own service is now available to anyone accessing foodbank support who is able to collect their food parcel. Instead of receiving a pre-packed parcel, visitors can choose items from a colour-coded shopping list, allowing them to select products and brands that best suit their needs.
Pick Your Own Opening Times
Monday to Thursday
10:30am to 1:30pm
Pre-booking required
Food Club Pilot
The Foodbank is also trialling a new Food Club and is looking for a limited number of members to help test and shape the service.
The Food Club is designed for people looking to access low-cost food items to top up their weekly shop and may include:
Fresh foods
Fruit and vegetables
Fresh meat
Frozen foods
Milk
Butter
(subject to availability).
Members can attend a dedicated weekly session every Friday from 10:30am to 1:30pm. During the three-month pilot, participants will:
Pay £5 per week for 10 items
Provide feedback to help develop the service
Receive a free income review with a dedicated money adviser
Receive a refund of membership payments (£60) at the end of the pilot if all sessions are attended
